From July 1, 2000, the government separated the practices of the medical and dispensary fields. Nowadays, pharmacists can only dispense some over-the-counter remedies (digestives, painkillers, cold medicines) without prescriptions and any type of medicine with a prescription (health drinks, cold medicines). Some larger pharmacies also sell cosmetics, shampoo, health-related products, insect repellent, and moth balls like Western-style drugstores.
The Medical Insurance covers prescription drugs.
