International Marriage
Males must be at least 18 years old and females must be at least 16 years old to marry in Korea. Those under 20 years old must receive permission from their parents or legal guardian(s).
Although reporting an international marriage is not required, participants must report the marriage to receive an International Marriage Certificate. (This certificate may be required as proof of marriage between foreigners in Korea or a marriage between a foreigner and a Korean.)
Those who registered their marriage before February 1, 1995, can get the Certificate from the Public Service Center (½Ãû¹Î¿ø½Ç, Sicheong Minwonsil) in Seoul City Hall (main building, 1st floor, Tel: 731-6231~2). Those who registered their marriage after February 1, 1995, can get the Certificate from the Civil Affairs Service Passport Division (¹Î¿ø¿©±Ç°ú, Minwon Yeogwongwa, Gangnam-gu Office main building 1F), Tel: 2104-1291.
The processing fee is 3,300 won and the application can usually be processed within a few minutes.
